[tech] need help! Car bucking on the hwy

Alright, 

Driving at 70mph all of the sudden the car decided to "buck" more accurately
describe as hesitation and lost of power.
The tachometer does not flinch, and if I press on the gas it can achieve one
of two possible things

A) car revs up and pulls forward
B) car tries to rev and feels like its staving on fuel or not igniting it.

This seems to be intermittent, well, not constant at any point, more like
randomized, but continual during a short 40 mile trip.
If I drive I know I will endure this situation is what I mean, not it will
happen twice in a week type of deal.

So I was on my way home and close to a 24hrs AutoZone, and I swapped (yes at
11pm at night) the in-tank transfer fuel pump.
Results are the same.

Anyone have any idea what this is all about???
