Has anyone replaced the Pressure Regulator with an Adjustable

Subject: Has anyone replaced the Pressure Regulator with an Adjustable

Has anyone ever attempted to take the Fuel pressure regulator off the
Air/Fuel air box and replace it with an adjustable one?  And does anyone
know why the top of it has a hose that is connected into the ait box
above the filter?
