I was also there a few times while in the Navy ('84 - '90). It was one
of my favorite destinations, great beaches, architecture, and British
pubs. Palma de Mallorca ("Pearl of the Mediterranean " or something like
that) is a favorite vacation spot of Europe, so you'll meet people from
all over there.
Great place, I'd love to go back as a civilian sometime. Have fun.
