Kinda OT - Building on Allyn's webcam idea

William,

Great Idea. It was easy to use. One thing though. You said you are not
home and that nothing should be moving, yet when I hit the site to test it
out, there were three guys moving all the furniture and valuables up the
stairs. One was even checking out the cam.

Dave

P.S. Just kidding!!!

Subject: Kinda OT - Building on Allyn's webcam idea

Well, I liked Allyn's Twin Cam web cam so much I figured I'd see if I
could do something similair. Not to out do Allyn in any way, just do it
to more of my taste.

So I've managed to get 1 camera up so far, but I need to see how well
others can use it so I figure no better way to get it tested then to
post the link here and have some of you folks give this a shot. The
reason I ask this, is that it isn't a standard webcam, this is an older
video conference cam (with pan/tilt/zoom abilities) hooked into a small
capture card and using some software to control the camera. What this
means is that when you go to the page, you should see the video (I'm at
work, so nothing should be moving around) but you will also have
controls that can move the camera.

Here is the link:

This is a usability test and kind of a load test to see what all it can
hendle. Now don't freak out if you are watching the stream and the
camera moves on it's own. If someone else is wathing they can also
control the camera. I haven't figure out a way to stop that problem
yet. But the grand ideas is to put about 5 camera's around the house so
I can use it as a security system while also leaving 2 of the came
viewable to the public. Anyway, if you have some spare time, give it a
shot and let me know how it worked out for ya.

Thanks,
William S
