1.8T pistons in a 16v motor

yea. I looked at the pistons in a 1.8T at work today with the head off and
I looked at a spare 16v bottom end and the pistons top are totally resigned
differently. the 16v has valve relief on top of the pistons and the 1.8T
ones don't. the 1.8T pistons are dished a little on the top. From my
estimated look at both pistons I don't think I can use them unless I get
valve relief's put in the pistons. I could be wrong. I took apart the 1.8T
motor today and found out why it was stuck in a corner at work. it has a
hole in the side of the block from #2 rod. all the other rods and pistons
are ok except for #2. so I'm thinking about finding some Audi 20v pistons
or looking for some used forged 16v pistons.
I have mostly all the parts to go boost right now if I want to rush things
(oil pan tapped, oil lines, tec 2, turbo, manifold, intercooler, etc. so I
have mostly everything. Plus I have a headgasket set with 2 ABA headgaskets
to lower compression. my thing is I have maintance work to do first before
I install Stand alone engine management. I have to re do my front
suspension, control arm bushings, tranny, and other work. when I'm done I
'm going to install the tec 2 and drive it for a month on the motor I'm
building then install the turbo equipment. the only reason why I'm not
turboing my stock motor is because I have 160K on it.

same thing. I think I've changed my mind 10+ times on what I will do for an
engine swap for my mk1 and I have yet to actually commit to anything. (Sorry
Anson, I'll buy the knock sensor stuff from you someday and Brian, I
apologize but I still plan on getting the battery relocation kit, someday)
Sometimes, what I want to do and what I think would be sweet gets ahead of
what I can do and what is really honest reality. But it doesn't hurt to ask
questions such as the one you did, at least in my mind, because you learn
something new and that opens (or closes) another option in the huge world of
modding. And besides, if the silly high hp stock VW motor is the way you
really want to go, over time you'll learn what you need to to make it
happen.
