octane baby!



There's only one problem with your equation. A JH doesn't ping on 89, so if
you stick a "not =" everywhere you have an "=" in your equation that will be
the correct equation for an 8.5 CR non-KS JH.
Every engine has an octane requirement. Once you meet that requirement going
higher will only lighten your wallet (less weight=better mileage!)
PL, 3A, ABA all have a higher octane requirement than a JH. Feeding them
swill will probably hurt your mileage as the KS retards timing under some
circumstances (do you really think it's retarding timing under part throttle
cruise conditions which is where you spend the vast majority of your
driving??).
