Soooooo, for swapping front rotors from solid to vented I just unbolt the old and on with the new? I hate getting things all apart and THEN finding out I need some replacement bit or doohickey.

No! The rear disks actually house the inner and outer bearing races. The fronts, by way of the
lug bolts, simply bolt to a hub which has it's own bearings. Totally different setup.
