cv joints

Those 49.99 axles are remans and the attention paid to the overhaul of those
axles are usually minimal. I'd definately buy one in a pinch but I would
rather find good CV joints and do the overhaul myself. I recently went
through 5 90mm axles to find two good inner and outer CV joints to make a
good set of axles for my diesel truck. It did take a little while (maybe 3
hours total) but I paid 18.50 each for two axles and the rest was given to
me. I did stick a GTI swaybar on when I had the axles out though.

I realize not everyone can do what I did and do it correctly with the right
tools but being self sufficient in repairing our little cars sure does make
them cheaper and more reliable. It is also nice to have been a tech for 15
years and to have a manual like the bentley to explain everything.
