OT- Car Stereo Q-Anyone here ever repaired their CD player?

Well, I worked for Sony some years fixing consumer electronic goods (TV,
VCR, CD players, Walkman, audio equipment).

The problem when CD players skip is not with the rubber feet, or whatever
other mechanical components are suspending the optical.

Which brings us to the fun part. The optical. When a CD player skips, it is
the laser/optical bloc that has to be replaced. It is expensive, around
50-75$ (maybee ??), and you need to do a specific procedure to adjust it,
which means you need the service manual, and an oscilloscope, as well as a
static free workspace.

If you are handy, it can be done.

it probably has some sort of silicone damping. the parts look like squishy
rubber feet. those would be the parts you need to replace.
