OT- Car Stereo Q-Anyone here ever repaired their CD player?

I've got a direct fit Pioneer in my truck that is starting to skip more and 
more.
I cleaned it, even though I new the suspension inside the CD player is probably
just getting tired.  Anyone here have experience repairing this kind of 
part, and what
would it be called?  I found the parts available on Pioneer's website, but 
can only
guess at what I might need.  As far as sending it out to be serviced it 
would probably
be cheaper in the end to buy a new one(and the same may apply to me attempting
to fix it.
