cross-flow vs g60

The TD manifold does look very restrictive, but remember that on the
throttled gas engine you're pumping very little air at part throttle
(compared to the unthrottled diesel, which always wants the maximum air
possible.) The restrictive exhaust mainfold will not necessarily hurt
part throttle performance, but it will significantly increase exhaust gas
velocity as it hits the turbo, which will help the turbo spool faster.
Exhaust after the turbo should be unrestricted, which is where the stock
A1 and A2 TD's fall short - a custom downpipe is a must for any kind of
performance.

The TD mainfold is not likely to unleash the maximum potential of a
turbo'd 8V, but I'm thinking that you'll still exceed the performance of a
stock JH with any other bolt-ons you could throw at it (excluding a
supercharger, of course.)

I would never dream of building a serious turbo project on TD parts.
However, if I had all the parts (just need an x-flow head) and the time
(yeah right) I'd seriously consider throwing togteher a cheap-ass JH turbo
just for the hell of it.
