[all about special models] - California edition rocco???

another search found this information about the 83/4 california edition

in 1996, Rodney Noriel wrote :
"My experiemce with this was when I purchased my 82, my girl firend at the
time bought an 83 California Special Scirocco. Leather interior, 1.8L
motor, Kamei Kit, 14" GTI wheels and the like and she had a single wiper on
her's too. BTW, anyone know is their is any value to this car. To my
knowledge California was the only state or place to get delivery of this
car. It commemorated, I think the some production mile stone of the
Scirocco. It came in silver only, 1.8L motor. Full leather interior, a
factory installed Kamei Kit and was the only Scriocco at the time to have
14" wheels. I've seen some around totally beat up. "

was there more than 1984 california edition or was is a typo?

Cosmetically, the 16V bears a striking resemblance to the special California
Edition Scirocco that was sold on the West Coast two years ago. The fender
flares and rocker panel extensions are identical and permit the 16V to be
shod with some decent-sized tires for a change...

searching deeper back in FEB 2002 Andrew wong (scirocco list)stated;

"Are you talking about the 84 California Edition? THere were only 500 made
with the Kamaei body kit with Snowflakes. I almost made a copy of a picture
of it from a VW book at the local libary after finish a school project."

maybe you need to track him down and ask the name of the book (printed
reference to the car is important!
his email of the time was : " mkii_84@yahoo.com " maybe someone kept in
touch with him and may help on this book search!

though both theses searches indicate conflicting information if you pay
attention the 85 magazine refers to 2 yeears ago indicating an 83
wolfsuburg no doubt. as yours is an 84 this could be misleading.

Mark pele a little later in Feb 2002 stated this as well ;
"According to Scirocco legend (and fellow lister) Tim from New Dimensions
there was a 1983 California edition - but with the Kamei body kit."

this again could be a incorrect information but Tim at new dimensions (if he
works there still) could provide information, I know it is a shot in the
dark but ya never know where information may come from sometimes.

best I can do at this time...
