[cabby] shifter /linkage had something come apart...

It ended up being the circlip on the shifter shaft itself.  What size
circlip is that anyway?  I got it back on, but it's waiting intently to
pop back off again.

I am pretty sure that if you look underneath the car, you'll find
dangling
shifter rods.

I was trying to put the car into reverse, and suddently the shifter
pretty much fell to the floor.  It is now extremely hard to select any
gears, but I have got it into reverse and 1st...

What should I start looking for?
