How to get the inner tie rod unscrewed?

I had to do this the other day. I put a crescent wrench on the lock-nut
and loosened the nut just a bit (the wrench won't be able to move much
in there). Then I used a vice grip to turn the tie rod off the rack.
Went surprisingly smooth considering how long I thought it was going to
take me... (unlike the 2 month old bleeder screw that busted off on me
at 3am last night getting my car ready for the track today...)

Mark.
