super-annoying door rattle

Since about a month ago when that scumbag broke my passenger door window,
I've developed a new rattle in my passenger door. It sounds like it's
coming from the area behind the window crank, but it's not the plastic
hand crank itself.

It happens at 3000 +/- 100 rpm and is louder than the engine, exhaust and
road noise combined. Conveniently, due to my new tranny, many of the
speeds I frequently cruise at (35mph, 60mph, etc) around town fall close
enough to 3000 rpm to make the noise. I just about ripped the whole door
off and chucked it off a bridge last night because the rattle was driving
me **crazy**!

Anyway, since I have limited tools and working space in my apartment
parking lot, I figured I'd ask for 'related experiences' before diving in
to fix it. Not that I haven't taken the door panel off a bazillion times,
but I don't wanna sit there revving the engine to 3000 rpm in neutral
trying to reach across the passenger side and stick my hand in the door
and make the rattle stop. I think some of my neighbors might get a little
pissed off.

So.. I spent about a half hour vacuuming all the glass bits out of the
door but I suppose it's possible some got stuck higher up and just now
fell down. But would they make that loud of a noise? (I do have stiff
front+rear motor mounts.. hmm, maybe they would..)

I haven't ever looked at a window regulator out of the car, do they have
moving parts that could loosen up internally and rattle? Do the regulators
themselves have a habit of working loose?

Grr.. if I could just get rid of this and some of my other annoying
rattles, I think my blood pressure would go down and my car would be much
more enjoyable to drive.
