JH and PL use same block??

It isn't the same block when considered as a unit. The primary difference
is that the combustion chamber of the 16v iprimarily in the cylinder head
and in the JH, it's in the piston. The 8v's also have a different
intermediate shaft needed to drive the distributor.

Putting a 16v cylinder head on a JH will result in some ridiculously low
compression ratio (like 6:1, or so IIRC).

If you're going to go that far, just get a 16v longblock and rebuild it. I
just tore apart an 8v 2.0 block and was surprised how simple it is
(obviously, putting it back together takes care and precision, but if you
pay attention to the instructions it's very doable.)
