Cutting shifter

Do you ever touch that car? Or does it just sit in a humidity controlled special chamber, similiar to what they have the Hope Diamond in. Every time I see your car, it just boggles the mind with how clean it is.My 81 has the long, straight shifter. It feels like I'm shifting a John Deere.

Here's a pic of an 83 GTI shifter in my car.

The original 75 shifter was also straight, BTW and about an inch
longer.
