16v Clutch Cable Binding? Stretched? Worn?...

Yep, Dan seems to have most of it covered. Also, where the cable runs through the firewall, it is bare cable. My cable rubbed against the small metal cylinder that goes through the firewall (it's there to hold the black outer part of the cable back - if it breaks, you get to watch the whole cable move around when you press the clutch in, but no clutch movement - it's fun!)
ANYWAY... after rubbing against the cylinder enough, it sawed through. once it sawed through the sharp edges of the cylinder started fraying the cable more and more, and i started to notice "sticky clutch pedal syndrome". Looking under there, I found there were about 3 strands of wire left!!! So check the cable where it goes through the firewall, too - you have to look from under the dash.
HTH!
Oh yeah, the 8V cable is not as tight feeling as the auto-adjust 16V one, but it's much cheaper and MUCH less of a hassle. Try it, you might like it. ;)
