Cleaning an oil-soaked carpet?

Guys,

Got two quarts of gone explodo on some carpeting.  All pretty much in a 
2' diameter area.  I yanked the carpeting and would like to save it if 
possible.  What is the best way of cleaning it?  My lord, it stinks.  I 
think I have oil permanently imbedded in my nostrils.

I can ditch the padding mat, no problem (and think they sell that crap 
aftermarket?.  It's the carpeting that I want to keep.
