1.8 JH swap....bit more power...still sucks



Straying fairly far away from factory settings generally will net you less
power, not more.
It sounds to me like something fundamental is not right.
I'd go back and reverify:
cam timing
igntion timing
make sure ignition vacuum and mechanical advance are working correctly
make sure the throttle opens all the way with the pedal bottomed and that
the WOT switch is actuating (if you have one)
verify fuel pump delivery
verify all the injectors are delivering the same amount of fuel and their
spray pattern is good
lastly, check your cat is not plugged (if you have one)

Also, are you sure that your TDC mark on the flywheel is really at TDC?
That, of course, would screw up ignition and cam timing.
