[Blown Engine question...]

My 79 had the keyway eaten out on the crank, but it was the old style where
there was actually a seperate key.
My 84 (where the key is integral with the timing pulley ) had a damaged key
when I disassembled it. Not sure if it was damaged in service or damaged
from removing the crank bolt.
Both cars were factory assembled i.e. I bought them new and had not done any
work in this area prior.
So, it's not unique to the 16V.

haven't heard of any 8v guys experiencing this...has any 8v guy here had
their crank keyway break?

stress on the timing belt from the injection pump).
