swap update / issues / weights

swap update:
ok, block/tranny is in, need to do a bit more gasket scraping on the head
before it goes on.

issues:
did the 100mm flange swap on the FF tranny that went on the rieger. had to
clearance the housing manually, all went well though. did the swap as
'proper' as i could, using 2 of those green extended output flange seal
carriers to hold the proper seals for the 100mm flanges. somehow the FN that
was on the rieger was holding fluid with one of the older/smaller seals in
place (which shouldnt work, as the inner surface of 100mm flanges is
tapered, and only meets the old-style seal on the outer edge, which isnt
meant to seal, thats the inner parts job).
... all was going well until i saw some tranny fluid leaking out of one of
the seals as i was bolting up the engine mounts. my guess is that i deformed
that sides seal carrier when putting it in, deforming the seal along with
it. i'll have to dig up another tomorrow and prey that its not deformed like
the one thats on there now.
... either way, its not too much of a show stopper, as i can throw the rest
of the engine together and worry about it later.
... question: has anyone ever ordered one of those seal carriers? are they
even available? how much are they?

weights:
this just in, 1.8 16v (PL) vs. 2.0 16v (9A) block - PL=138.3 , 9A=139.4
(yes, you only gain ONE POUND when swapping to a 9A!). talk about a
worth-while mod!

oh joy, more fun tomorrow :)
