cooling problem

if you didnt exceed 117, i would say you did no damage.
for a point of reference, my first scirocco blew a hose in an emergency
situation, meaning i drove it for nearly 1/2 hour with no water. oil temp
hit 150c (probably beyond). after restoring water cooling, the car ran for
another year before the rings went.

this is bull, the oem rear mount is the softest and transmits the least
vibration.

this is probably what happened. the left/right mounts can be put in upside
down, which lets the engine sit much lower than it should (and transmits
much more vibration). this also puts a bunch of excessive force on the front
and rear mounts, making the vibration even worse. even an oem rear mount
will transmit vibration if the engine puts enough force on it (due to
improper installation/alignment of the other mounts).
