Stereo Diagram

That would be very cool. I'd be up for those pics and to be honest, it would be good to have these for future problems others might have.

To the collective!

As for my blue w/ white stripe delimma, I just need to know if it puts out power or if it just sends a signal to tell the antenna to go up/down.

Mike, I have a small piece of paper describing the stock VW terminals.
This paper came with the wiring harness that I purchased to match up my VW
to the radio. The harness is available at most stereo places such a
Circuit City. I don’t think that you need one of these since you have one
with your radio. This one is specifically designed to match to VW. The
paper also describes the terminal for powering the amplifier. This is not
to be confused with power to the motorize antennas.
When I get home I will try to scan the documents and take a pic of the
wiring harness. Let me know if you want me to do this.

A wiring guru I am not. Don't know how to hook stuff to fuse box. Did
someone say earlier that there's a blue w/ white stripe wire? According to
my stereo's instructions
(http://books.jvcservice.com/download/523907226/25610.pdf page 35) it says:
Blue with white stripe: to power antenna (200 mA max.) Is this to
raise/lower or power for antenna amp? And after further searching, it
doesn't look like there's anything as far as an extra power wire for amp or
anything else. After more thought on the subject and the fact that I've
NEVER had decent reception with stations that aren't super local, I'm
thinking that this thing was never hooked up to the old unit because of the
fact that there's only the one power lead and the unit had constant power
regardless of key position. If I were to try something with the fuse box,
I'd want help... serious help. Anyone in MD? :)

No that wire is to make the power antenna go up and down, and it will not
do what you want it to. Your car should have an ignition wire, most
scirocco's I've worked on seem to, but many many vws didn't. You should
wire up an ignition wire from the fusebox to the deck, then you can use it
for the antenna as well. That's your best solution. Otherwise you have
to hook it up to constant power like you did your deck, and the antenna
will be powered all the time. I'd check the current draw on the antenna
before I did that because you run the risk of killing your battery.

Well, I don't know how these things are supposed to b set up, but when I
did mine, there was only one power wire coming from the car. I had to
connect it with both wires from the stereo or it wouldn't work. As a
result, this makes the stereo playable without the car running or even
without the key in the ignition. The punkt was like that as well. On my
stereo, there is a wire for power antennas (I'm assuming they're refering
to the ones that move up and down as opposed to ones that have powered amps
built in). This one would be sufficient for my antenna needs???

Connect it to the ignition wire to the stereo. You could also connect it
to the remote output wire from the deck, which would make it only be powered
when the stereo is on. In any case, your AM reception will be nill without
it powered up, which is a good way to see if it's working properly.

So, should I just connect this wire to the power wire which powers the
stereo?

John, you are right. That little black wire that runs parallel with the
antenna conductor is the power to the fuba antenna amplifier. You will
get poor reception without the amplifier working.

Isn't that a power wire for the antenna? Its been quite a while since
I've
seen mine.
