Cool revolutionary head design - no more valves
I thought this was a facincating concept when it was first demonstrated several years ago. Unfortunately, it'll never be more than a novelty. Why? It's just another 2-stroke, with the two-strokes propinsity for dirty exhaust (emissions). Look closely at the cycle as it 'runs', see how easily the fresh intake charge can find its way out the exhaust port? In this respect, it's even worse than a conventional, Schneurle-ported 2-stroke.
Sometimes the goal appears to be: "just how complicated can we make it and still have it run?"
Many years ago, I saw a peculiar engine run in our shop. It had pistons that rotated along with the two cylinder 'blocks'. It, too, was a 2-stroke design and did not find acceptance. It ran, but not much else.
This is a riveting subject.....any more good stuff out there?
