tranny 5th gear bolt

I don't replace the 5th gear bolt. I do clean the threads with a wire brush, and those inside the
mainshaft, and re-loctite it. And I do use a torque wrench when reassembling.

AFA the circlips, I have installed used ones with no issues. Just use pliers to tighten them up
first, and don't stretch them any more than required when installing.

This has all been approved by a local 20+ year VW ASE mechanic - we discussed such things when he
was at a friends while I was doing a 5th gear conversion.

HTH,

Ron
