I removed some parts. Did I screwup?



I just did the same thing, but I left the "tennis ball holder", which is a
vacuum canister. The other stuff is all unnecessary equipment for these old
cars, as I understand it, and didn't make a difference on my 79. The tank on
the front passenger side has a hose that runs to the gas tank ventilation
system. Which is made up of yet another tank just behind the filler neck and
some vent hoses from the tank. What I read about it says it guards against
the gas tank collapsing. I have not found any evidence that removing the
front stuff, as many before you and I have, has a negative effect. HTH,
