Turbo vs. Supercharger.

Turbos create more efficient power. Of the energy released in the
combustion chamber 1/3 goes into the cooling system 1/3 goes down the
crankshaft and 1/3 goes out the exhaust. By using the wasted 1/3 of the
combusted energy, (exhaust) you get more effecient power gains. Although
when air is forced through the turbine section of a turbo, reduced-flow
areas inherent in the design create back pressure, causing power loss. The
power loss inherent in a turbo engine is substantially less than the loss
occured by driving a supercharger with a belt or some other means.

In english: A turbo uses free energy to give power, where a supercharger
uses your engines energy to give power thus taking away power as well.
