so what rocco did you have first?? mk1 or mk2?????

1st was a 79 Mk1. It had a 4 speed (my 1st clutch job, and solo to
boot) and shocks so bad I could get the wheels off the ground on the
(now RIP due to the Loma Prieta Earthquake), fallen Cypress Freeway in
Oakland, CA.

I paid in cash $749.99 to the previous owner, (she wanted $750 but I
wasn't going to pay a penny more) and it overheated just going around
the block, wouldn't charge the Alt, and I was of course in love with
it.

It was a replacement for the air cooled K. Ghia that preceded it,
which had in turn replaced the Opal Kadet Wagon, which had replaced
the very Scirocco looking Lancia Beta HPE hatchback. (But that was
Mom's car, not mine.)

Since loosing the 79 to the tow truck man (Hades!) I got an 81 and
have been tinkering it like crazy ever since.

I wouldn't mind a mono wiper Mk2 8v with a 2.0 16v transplant though.
