> So I just got back from a trip to charlotte, and on the way back on got pulled over by the Highway patrol. When I first noticed him behind me, I was going a little over 75 in a 65, and shortly thereafter he pulled me over. When he gave me my ticket it was for 87 in a 65, needless to say i was pissed and questioned him about it. I asked if he clocked me on radar, and he said no, that he had used vascar. For those unfamiliar with vascar, it is basically a computer in the cop car that has swithes for time and distance. The cop chooses a reference point flips the T and D switches, picks another and flips them again. The computer then does the Distance over time math and calculates your average speed. Very prone to human error in my opinion. My grip is that there was NO way I was going anywhere near 87. I'm positive my speedo was below 80, and if anything, it is probably a little high.

I'm going to call the DA and highway patrol tomorrow to get my distance and time readings, because i've seen some sights on the interenet were the numbers didn't work out and such.

VASCAR sucks, but in Virginia you'd be better off blaming your speedo.

I've seen several people get off of speeding tickets by having their speedos tested and calibrated aat a garage, and then showing proof of that in court.

Last year I got off doing 89MPH in a 65MPH in Virginia.

First I had my mandatory appearance continued to the following month.

Then I bought a new 160MPH MotoMeter speedo from the VW dealer...

When I presented the receipt for the speedo, the judge asked me if I had it tested, and I said that I figured it was way off and I'd be better off with a new speedometer from the dealer.

He asked if I fixed it, I said yes, and I was free to go...

Btw, the kid doing 90MPH in a 65MPH got a 6 month suspension and a $250 fine.
