Nylon speedo gear

Hi David;
    It might be because my 9A tranny had a 3.67 final stock and now has a
3.89 that there is a difference but the stock white ( natural ) in my 1979
Scirocco has 16 teeth and the speedo was about 8 or 9 miles fast. I found a
red one of 15 teeth and put it in and now I'm 14 or 15 miles fast. I think
the green one of 17 teeth that I have ordered will get me close to correct.
I'm sure I don't care what color it is but I think I need one with 17 teeth.
I will know Tuesday when the dealer has my new green 17 tooth speedo cable
end in. They are easy to change and I will report on the results Tuesday
night
