Knock Ignition questions.

Since ignition advance is electronically controlled, it was apparently =
not difficult for the VW engineers to make the electronics respond to an =
input from the knock sensor. In just what manner it does this is beyond =
my knowledge.
(and the Bentley does not give any clues..... )=20
