Welcome to the collective Tim.

First things that come to mind after the car sitting for that long =
would be the following. Change the oil, make sure the gas tank didn't =
rust up on the inside, change the fule filter and spark plugs. Once you =
get the car running, flush the coolent system a few times just make sure =
any gunk that might have setup in the radiator is out. Then, rebuild or =
source yourself a new tranny, slap it in, rebleed your brakes and have a =
ball. This is of course the off the top of my head at 12am edition. =
I'm sure you will hear more from others which should cover anything I =
missed. Good Luck and we hope to hear more from you for a long time to =
come since once you are part of the collective, you won't want to go =
back to normal life.

I am about to start rebuilding my 86 16 valve that has been sitting in =
the driveway for almost 5 years now. It ran great when I parked it, but =
the tranny was toasted so I have only cranked it 2 or 3 times since it =
was parked the last of which was probably 3 years ago and that time it =
ran out of gas so it has been sitting empty for the past 3 years. What =
all should I need to do/check/replace and any tips for restarting that =
anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

By the way I'm new to the list, but you will probably be hearing alot =
from me in the weeks and months to come!

  Tim
