I think a catalytic converter contains _nasty stuff_ also and it would
be best not to be breathing or handling the stuff that comes out. Wear
gloves, eye protection and a dust mask.

You may also have problems disposing of the contents legally. Your local
tyres & exhaust people may be able to help you out.
