Was stupid mk1 question. -Now Engine Building

The object of my build is an engine that performs well on both ends of the
tach. I can dream right? As I understand it, if I shorten the stroke a
little, and increase the bore a little, it will increase top end performance
without a significant loss of compression. If you build an engine with less
low end torque, will the Audi 4k manifold- believed to help low end torque-
work to compensate for the low end loss, or will it conspire against the
engine, and just rob too much top end power? I will be starting with the RD
block, solid lifter head, and G grind, buckled to the FF (probably) gearbox.
