what is normal oil temp?

The absolute temperature is not that important. What IS important is =
being able to see if the temp is abnormally high/low and if it is going =
higher/lower.
Five or ten degrees out of calibration is minor stuff.

This makes me want to do some kind of calibration test. Should be =
able to
rig some boiling pan of water and dunk the probe and see what 100c =
really
registers on a gauge. Just a thought. It bothers me now to think =
that 100
on my guge might mean 95 or 105.
