Timing shift. was Re: re:shift points for older engines]



On a 16v I would almost agree totally with what Jason just said.  On an
8v'er I have found that they seem to really "wake-up" with a little more
advance.  It's something you kind of have to play with depending on your
tranny set up and mechanical timing. (adjustable cam gear, shaved head,
etc.)  Factory specs are pretty good on our cars,...but you start changing
valve angles, cams, mechanical timing, etc. and you almost "need" to alter
the ignition timing.   I guess back to your original question:  Advancing
brings in the low end and retarding allows for more in the high end.
