Help me slide my Scirocco better...

Hi Dan;
Some bicycle computers have almost infinite settings for wheel size and
if you mount the magnet on the inside of the rim on a rear wheel it
shouldn't
be too hard to fashion a bracket to hold the pickup off the rear backing
plate. As long as your magnet and pickup are in the right relation to each
other the angle of mounting would not make any difference. I spent a lot of
time being a bicycle frame builder and bicycle mechanic and mounting one in
a car would be pretty low tech. Just read the instructions with the
computers till you find one that will allow you to set the tire size you
have
on the car.

> Hehe, nice idea, but not a chance. You have to calibrate the computer to
the size of your bike wheel (basically, pick which wheel you have out of a
list). I don't think they have anything close to car wheel sizes. Also, the
pick up part has to be millimeters away from the magnet. Lastly, the way
spokes are angled places the magnet in just the right spot for a correct
reading. Too much toward the outside or inside of the tire would throw
things off. But, then again, I don't know much about creative electrical
engineering, so maybe it could be made to work.
