[16v] anyone have this on their car?

My car had one on it... I'm only the second owner, and the first owner always took the car to the dealership to get it fixed.  It's just to keep things from A.) falling into the intake when the boot is off and B.) Keep large objects that somehow sneak by the air filter from getting in the engine.
