Sorry, Don - there's no confusion here. That is the biggest crock of sh*t I ever heard. The term "86'd" originated LONG BEFORE the RU-86 pill was ever invented.

Eighty-sixed (86'd):
Wild West legend has it that if a rowdy acted up, the bartender would serve him from a bottle of 86 proof whisky reserved for female customers. Shamed, the cowboy would leave in a huff. The term was used in restaurants in the 1920's to mean "nix" or "we're all out." Later on the term was used to describe someone that shouldn't be served. _______

Or this one from http://lifeintheweeds.tripod.com/lifeintheweeds/Jargon.html

"A term used when you are out of something completely"

_________

The term generally means to intentionally leave something out. Maybe the sadistic Dr. who invented that pill numbered it after the term, but not the other way around. Sorry if this comes off like a flame, but your incorrect implication of insensitivity on my part kind of irks me (though this was probably not your intention).

BTW - from which reference did you get that nonsense?

Does anyone know where the term 86-it came from. It comes from the part number of the pill (RU86) to kill unborn babies.

RU86 = Are you dead? killed? expired? etc...

Just makes me think twice about using that term. I don't mean to offend anyone or say that we shouldn't use it, but place some perspective of the origin.

I think the Cutlass is for pulling the scirocco, but I would agree with
86-ing it altogether! :p

Rhett-

If you don't mind me asking; after parting out your Scirocco, how much
cash will you have to play with?

I think you should forget autocrossing a Cutlass.

Over Thanksgiving break my parents brought to my attention that I really

have no money left to play. I really want to keep autoXing but the
Cutlass
would take a lot of time and hard work to get to handle decent. As most
of
you know by now my rocco is in many pieces as I am parting it out. (need
any
parts? email me!!)

Here are a few options I have come up with.

1. Keep my rocco, fix the holes in it roughly, drop my spare 1.7L in it,
put
it on a trailer and run it race only.

2. finish parting the rocco and dump the money into the Cutlass to make
it
look nice and handle a littel better.

3. Finish parting out the rocco and sell the cutlass and find something
that
I can use for both street and autoX, more in a stock class.

I like option 1 the most simply because it keeps one more rocco around
for
longer. I know in the long run it may cost me more because I would like
to
get a truck to pull the trailer instead of the Cutlass, but I think it
would
also be the most fun.

Peace Out,
Rhett
