adjusting wiper travel

bolt backed out. problem is that if it slips like that, the splines on the
shaft have probably smoothed out the hole in the wiper arm. remove the arm
and clean the excess aluminum out of the splines, or else the arm will just
slip over and over.
also, you may need a washer to apply more force to the wiper arm, as the nut
hits bottom if enough aluminum has been removed from the arms bore.
when tightening the bolt, you may have to use excessive force to cause the
splines to dig into the arm bore sufficiently.

Subject: adjusting wiper travel

> Last night after using my wipers all day, they suddenly decided to go from
normal travel distance to going from about 1/4 the way up my windshield to
completely off the side of the car. Why the sudden change and how do I
adjust it back? Do I undo the bolt of the arms and realign or is there
something else I adjust?
