2.0 help (anyone that can spare the time)



dunno whether you have an 8V or 16V, but either way the ~10% increase in
displacement does magically produce more than a 10% increase in torque and
power (at least for the 8V), so it's well worth it.
If your engine is a 16V then swapping to a 2.0 16V is really pretty painless
since, I believe, it's a straight bolt in and you don't have to scrounge any
parts.
If your engine is an 8V then swapping in a 2.0 will require you to source
some new parts for the breather and distributor (and the exhaust downpipe if
the new short block is an ABA), but other than that it's bolt in.
$300 sounds like a good price to me if it's in good condition.
If you haven't done any major mechanical work on your car then it'd be
alittle much to bite off as your first project. It took me about a week, but
I did a bunch of other stuff like new gaskets and seals in the tranny and
clean everything up, so it could be done quicker. It took Patrick longer,
but he did everything you could possibly do during his swap!
