Tranny install question

So last night I went to install the tranny.  I ended up using a jack
this time and laid next to the jack making holding the tranny in place
with my hands while I worked the pump with my foot.  Put I have a
problem.  I couldn't get it in with the motor mount attached to the end
cap.  So I took it off and got the tranny installed.  Well now I want to
kick myself cause I can't get the motor mount on now.  I was figuring
that with the tranny and engine lowered on the driver's side there would
be enough clearance to get the two bolts that attach the mount piece to
the tranny in, but there isn't.  

So, in general, how do I install the tranny?  Should the mount be on it
before putting the tranny back in the car?  I'm going to go over there
tonight and drop it again and try to put it in with the mount installed.
I'm thinking that now I have successfully put in the trany I should be
able to get it with the motor mount on.
