Plug wires - 8v

Well I will agree with you that aftermarket are not (and should not) be
verified by the bentley but but the manufacturers specs (grin), I only use
OEM wires. sooo when I buy them and they are in specs (and I require
2-300Ohms difference to start worrying about it) , but last set I changed
had over 800Ohms difference, and when I did change the wires... the car just
purrs all happy again sooooo.... yeah it does make a difference... life of a
sparkplug wire (about ~ 5 years usually in my experience at the most).

  PB,
  I wouldn't.
Reason #1: the Bentley has been proven wrong before and, more importantly,
Reason #2: those resistance values that the Bentley gives are the
tolerances for new, stock wires. Any values you get when you measure your
wires that fall outside those published values simply mean that your wires
do not meet the same specs that they had to meet when new....if they read 5
ohms less...or 5 ohms more....than the Bentley's numbers, are they 'bad'?
If a new set of SuperTurboFlameThrowerFatWires don't meet the Bentley's
values for stock components, does that mean they are defective?
See where I'm going with this?
Again, there is one theory that says a small air-gap in the wires
(infinite resistance) helps build up voltage so that the plug actually
receives a higher-voltage spark. I'm not so sure I agree with this theory,
but it is one that has been hanging around for years. If I hear of
something relevent that I'm not sure I go along with, I'll tell you guys and
let you draw your own conclusions.
I've been around long enough to have learned this: don't take anything
at face value.
  Peace.

  Larry

when it is written in the bentley bible, yeah of
