What a drive. Wow



Yeah those big mountain motors have nice grunt.  Did you see if it was a
type 4 motor?  2.3L is about as big as you can go with the beetle case.  I
have some experience with the air cooleds but too much maintenance so I went
to watercooled.  Plus, I like having defrost!!

A friend of mine has a 12 sec. beetle and it's the full car--whole interior
and nothing firberglass.  It is an older one (59) so it is lighter than the
later models but his secret is Gene Berg everything with his own custom
heads and big 48's gushing the fuel/air in.  He hits 9k - 10k rpm without
even thinking about it.  The GB stuff he uses is old school and has more of
a possiblity of being built by him personally.

Fun little cars if it's not your DD!  That is my opinion and now that I have
a diesel pickup (Rabbit) it's almost like the oposite end of the spectrum as
all I have to do is add fuel and change the oil once in a while!!
