A Head Case

I need some help. I just switched heads on my cars, 87 & 88 scirocco 16v's. However, now my timing is all screwed up, and I think that my fuel distributer isn't working properly. First off, how do I set my timing starting all over again? Then at TDC, where does my timing sprocket need to be positioned on my head, so I can reinstall my timing belt. Also, how can I test my fuel distributer to see if its working properly? After I reinstalled the head, the car wont start. I think that the timing is correct. I noticed after trying to start the car for a while that my plugs were dry, it doesnt look like there is any fuel getting to the injectors. There is fuel after the fuel filter though, that is what makes me think that it is my fuel distributer. I need any advice please.

Thanks fellow rocc'rs.

Hi

Got an in-the-tank fuel pump I'm trying to get out so I can clean out the screen, but its a replacement one without the big plastic ring. Looks like its a Brosol replacement. Anybody know how to get those things out?

Thanks
Dan

I'm interested in the various special sales campaign codes - they appear
to be 700 series option codes. For example, 707 is the 85 Wolfsburg, 706
is supposed to be 84 Wolfsburg. My 84 Wolfie has a 711 code instead.

FWIW the various codes from both the Euro and NA versions of ETKA are in
the following table (including the sales campaigns.)

http://scirocco.cs.uoguelph.ca/gtd/misc/vw-options.htm

It appears that many codes are consistent across models (although I'm not
entirely sure - my Wolfie has option 635 - the only reference I could find
was under A50 (Audi 5000) for heavy duty heater.)

I think many of these options may be combined under sales campaigns, which
is why they don't appear as separate items on the sticker.

Ok, the fact you have a small wing, yet the larger gas tank is just plain WIERD. First one I have ever seen that way.

There should ne a notch that you can get a flat-blade screwdriver into
on that thing and then use a hammer to bump it around untill it comes
loose. Need any help? If so let me know and I can drop by after work
unless your already back down at school. In that case you'll have to
wing it cause I'm not driving that far after work, heh. But like I
said, a flat blade screwdriver and a hammer are your friends in this
case, put them to good use.
