Non Scirocco Related - advice on Beetle purchase

Too late!  That's the last time I go on a honeymoon!!  He's selling it to a kid I used to work with.  At least it's going to someone who will love it and take care of it.  I couldn't have asked for a better home for it.

Should I buy my step-father's classic bug?  He's asking $1000 OBO.  Great car.  Looks great, runs great, just getting too expensive for him to maintain.
