Turbo 8V JH

Very nice, Dan! I assume your nephew who owns the car is not the cute little
guy in the pictures! ;)

I especially like the taper on the throttle body inlet. Is it me, or do I
notice a slight circumference reduction and then enlargement in the taper in
the direction of flow?

I have a couple of other ?'s for you, if you don't mind... :)

Is there anything you'd do differently and why (e.g., going w/ a .48 housing
or a different intercooler...)? Were those choices made specifically by
design or availability/price?

Thanks, JT

Subject: Turbo 8V JH

Just a little info for those aspiring to more HP from those whimpy little
low compression JH's.
We recently installed a turbo on my nephew's mostly stock JH.
T3 turbo, CIS fuel distributor and warm up regulator off a 240T Volvo.
Ford Probe intercooler with modified inlet and outlet.
Stock ignition (for now) set at 5 BTDC and G cam.
A2 intake manifold cause it gave us really nice piping runs instead of
having pipes cris-crossing the entire engine compartment.

At 4 psi and 12' BTDC ignition (way too much and a brain fart on the uncle's
part) it's as fast as my 132 whp 2.0L 8V ABA! The turbo JH does not have AC,
PS or power windows or locks, so it's a little lighter than my car, so maybe
it's only making 120 whp!
It's now at 7 psi (with the ignition set where it should be) and quite a bit
faster. Turbo lag is becoming more evident, but it's only a .63 turbine
housing and that could be changed to .48 to reduce lag a little.

Total cost? It's less than it cost me to have my head ported by Techtonics 6
years ago!

Anyway, thanks to Allyn for hosting pics of the above at

Needless to say the installation isn't complete, but it's enough to keep the
nephew happy (for now!)
Dan
