So much for your friend trying to be a nice guy.  Next time someone asks him
for a jump he'll probably say no and who can blame him.  In all cases of 
jumping
that I've been involved with or seen firsthand the donor car was always, 
already running.
Now with the electronics on these new cars maybe that isn't such a great 
idea anymore,
but old habits die hard.
