Front end noise

Hi,
I'm getting a heavy hum from the front end of my 87 16V. It is like a wheel
bearing noise in that it is much occurs when the wheel is at all turned to
the left. It is a heavy hum sounding like running over the holes at the edge
of the highway. It goes away if I step on the gas and the front end lifts
up. The wheel bearing has been replaced.
I am suspecting the inner cv. Is there a way to check? Which side would make
that left turn noise?
